Friends Of John Denver

We are both proud to be members of Friends Of John Denver an organisation dedicated to keeping the memory of John Denver

alive. Keeping his music alive here in the U.K. and actively campaigning and raising funds for the charities and causes that he supported throughout his career, and other similar worthy causes. F.O.J.D. Also gives people the chance to get together, to meet up

with old friends, and even meet new friends, such is the appeal of John Denver’s music. It still brings people together even now, so

long after his untimely death in a plane crash in California in 1997.

Friends of John Denver hold two ‘DENVER DAYS’ each year, usually in the spring and in the autumn, usually based somewhere in

the midlands to be central for most travellers. Denver day usually starts at 11:00am and runs till about 5pm or 5:30pm. Sometimes

there is an Evening concert attached to Denver Day, which extends the day into the night.

We very often take part in the musical part of Denver day, during the afternoon, singing a few John Denver songs along with all

Our other musical friends that we have met there over the years. The afternoon musical part is open to anyone who can play, that would like to get up and have a go. So if you are playing your guitar at home, just longing to have a go in front of an audience, Denver day is a great opportunity to do just that ! We know because that was us many years ago !! Just bring your guitar along to

the next Denver day, and have a go !!!

The Evening concert is usually done by a different artist or band everytime. Some top quality musician’s, sometimes from oversea’s,

other times one of several talented U.K. Based performers is chosen to do the evening show. Some time in the not too distant future

it may be us ! Very occasionally the evening concert is performed by someone who used to perform with John Denver, or by someone

Who wrote some of the songs that John used to sing. It all depends on who is available, and who is willing to travel to the U.K. To

Put on a show at Denver day. One thing is for sure, it is usually a great round off to a fantastic day !
