Neil’s Guitars Continued ....

In 2002 Gill and I got married and so guitar buying plans had to go out of the window for a while as we set up our new home and

new life together. Eventually we caught up with everything and I got the OK from the boss !!!

In the latter part of his career John Denver switched to playing TAYLOR guitars. Based in San Diego, Califonia, U.S.A. Many

artists seem to be switching to Taylor guitars for semi-acoustics. I have visited the MUSIC LIVE event at Birmingham’s N.E.C.

on several occasions. It is a big event where music companies show off their products, similar to the motor show, or ideal home

exhibition, but this time with guitars, keyboards, drums and many more instruments. A musician’s paradise !!! The event usually happens every November. At one of these events TAYLOR guitars were being demonstrated by their main demonstrator Doyle Dykes. Doyle is one of the best guitar players I have ever seen, though away from guitar enthusiasts he is relatively unknown.

TAYLOR also hold their own regional events from time to time and I had the pleasure of seeing Doyle Dykes in action on several

occasions in a more intimate and close up setting. Amazing to watch, why don’t my fingers go that fast ???!!!

My first purchase as a married man was a TAYLOR 355 CE LTD EDITION 12 string guitar. Another great sounding instrument

and a real pleasure to play. It is currently my number one 12 string and is very often seen on stage with me.

At one of the Taylor Road show events the audience were very surprised to find out that Bob Taylor himself was there at the event.

And he told the story to everyone of how he began making guitars at home as a hobby, which then developed into the multi million dollar company that TAYLOR GUITARS is today. Just doing what he loved, building guitars ! He also met with the public after the event and I enjoyed having a little chat with him. He wanted to know all about what I did with HIS Taylor guitar, so I told him all

about the shows that we do, and all the charity fund raising that we have done. He said he was very pleased to hear of good things being done with HIS instruments.

2008 brought my 40th birthday, and the first guitar ever bought for me by my wife !! It is a TAYLOR 324 CE L10 FALL LTD

EDITION. It is a beautiful guitar in both looks and sound. Made from Koa and also features the new TAYLOR EXPRESSION SYSTEM, which is the latest in onboard electronics. This guitar definitely gets a lot of action as it features in nearly all of

the events that we do.

Well that just about wraps up the guided tour of my guitar collection. Where they came from, why I bought them, why I sold them. It is all in here somewhere. There are links to my favourite guitar manufacturers on our LINKS page for anyone who

wants to know more about any of these fine instruments as they continue their quest for the ULTIMATE GUITAR !!!

The only thing left to say is that I notice there is quite a bit of space left on this page.

ROOM FOR MORE GUITARS WHEN I BUY THEM. (Don’t Tell Gill, or I will be in big trouble !!!)
